Undersea Knight Reviewed by Collectors' Corner

Boyce McClain reviews Nemo Publishing's new Commander X Undersea Knight on Collectors' Corner. Check it out at this link.

"This figures reminds me so much of my youth when I would go to a department store and marvel at the new toys on the shelf. Action figures were in their infancy and MEGO, G.I. Joe and Captain Action figures were all the rage. Thank you Nemo Publishing for this delightful trip down Memory Lane." ~ Boyce McClain, Collectors' Corner

Inspired by The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli's Commander X, Nemo Publishing presents the Commander in a new Limited Edition Action Figure.

The Golden Age Undersea Knight harkens back to the bygone age of the square jaw, straight lace heroes. The fully articulated figure stands approximately six to seven inches tall with the Commander's telltale mustached face peering out from behind a silver undersea helmet. The helmet rests on a silver sleeve that fits over the shoulders of the Commander.

Dressed entirely in a black leotard, form-fitting outfit the Commander also sports blue gloves, black half boots and a black belt with the Commander's trademark yellow 'X' on a red background.

Included with the bubble packed figure is a long lance or spear that fits easily into the Commander's hands. A full color illustration of the Undersea Knight is seen in action directly left of the figure. On the back of the bubble pack is a series of head illustrations of the Commander in his various guises.

Commander X-Mas is here! 2010 Commander X Adventures

PORTLAND, MAINE (December 21, 2010) – Nemo Publishing, publisher of Jay Piscopo’s The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli all-ages graphic novel series, has released its 3rd annual Commander X Adventures.

This free comic book is available at this link.

Commander X Adventures features pulp adventure stories about the renowned time traveler, Commander X, who is an integral character in the Capt’n Eli series. This collection of stories has a retro-modern feel. Piscopo noted “Our hero, Commander X, is a classic comic strip and movie serial hero with some high tech gizmos and time travel thrown in.”

Piscopo edited this free on-line comic book with a team of creators from the United States and England, including stories by Frank Schildiner, Vito Delsante and Michael Leal. Artwork was created by Marvel cover artist Mike Fyles, Wynn Ryder, Danny Kelly and Robert Caine Jeffcoat, and the legendary Mort Todd. Piscopo also wrote and illustrated a story and edited the collection.

In Piscopo’s story, fans meet Commander X as the Undersea Knight. In conjunction with this, Nemo Publishing has created the Undersea Knight as a limited edition Mego-style collectible action figure.

“With this collectible figure, we’ve captured the nostalgic feeling of the fun of Christmas morning when a special toy could take you into another universe,” continued Piscopo. “Seeing Commander X in his Undersea Knight uniform in the story really sparks the imagination.”

This is the sixth figure in the Commander X collectible action figure line. The other figures include: Golden Age Commander X, 1950s Commander X, Western Knight, Barbary Knight, and the Archer Knight. These eight-inch figures are created in a retro-style reminiscent of those made by the Mego Corporation in the 1970s and are designed by Piscopo and produced by Paul “Dr. Mego” Clarke. A short video about the variant collection can be viewed at this link.

All six figures are available exclusively at www.captneli.com at a special price of $15 (regularly $19.95) through December 31, 2010.

Readers of Commander X Adventures will also have the chance to learn more about the Sea Raider. This aquatic superhero is the Sea Ghost’s former identity during WW II. Fans first met the Sea Raider and the Sea Ghost in Volumes 1 and 2 of Capt'n Eli. The Sea Ghost now also stars in his own comic book distributed by Diamond Comics Distributors. More about this new book at www.TheSeaGhost.com.

When The Sea Ghost #1 (Diamond Code: JAN111269) is released in Diamond Previews this January, The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli – Volume 1 will be offered again (Diamond Code: JAN111270). Capt’n Eli – Volume 2, which contains Sea Ghost’s origin story, is also still available (Diamond Code: AUG084227). Volume 3 of the Capt’n Eli graphic novel series will be released in spring 2011.
