Third Sea Ghost Action Figure Winner Announced

Nemo Publishing announced the final winner of its Sea Ghost action figure contest. Nick Katerelos of Astoria, New York is the winner of the third super-limited-edition Sea Ghost action figure prototype.

The Sea Ghost is an aquatic superhero featured in Jay Piscopo’s graphic novel series “The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli,” published by Nemo Publishing and now stars in his own comic book "The Sea Ghost #1" offered in January Diamond Previews. More at www.TheSeaGhost.com.

Katerelos was selected at random from hundreds of people who purchased Commander X Mego-style action figures between Dec. 15, 2008 and Dec. 15, 2010. All customers who purchased Commander X figures during that time were automatically entered into the final drawing. These eight-inch collectible Commander X action figures are available exclusively at www.captneli.com.

More about Commander X:
In December 2008, Nemo Publishing released its first limited edition Mego-style action figure of the retro hero Commander X. There are six variants in this collection (Golden Age Commander X, 1950s Commander X, Western Knight, Barbary Knight, Archer Knight, and an all new Undersea Knight) and more variants will be released in 2011.

Commander X is an integral character in “The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli” graphic novels. This collectible figure is created in a retro-style reminiscent of figures made by the Mego Corporation in the 1970s. Piscopo is working with Paul Clarke, known as “Dr. Mego,” to create this collection.

More about Sea Ghost: Sea Ghost is an aquatic super hero with a long career fighting evil above and beneath the waves.

"The Sea Ghost #1" features A and B covers of this aquatic superhero. This story is written and illustrated by Jay Piscopo and includes a pin-up by legendary illustrator Ramona Fradon.

Commander X-Mas is here! 2010 Commander X Adventures

PORTLAND, MAINE (December 21, 2010) – Nemo Publishing, publisher of Jay Piscopo’s The Undersea Adventures of Capt’n Eli all-ages graphic novel series, has released its 3rd annual Commander X Adventures.

This free comic book is available at this link.

Commander X Adventures features pulp adventure stories about the renowned time traveler, Commander X, who is an integral character in the Capt’n Eli series. This collection of stories has a retro-modern feel. Piscopo noted “Our hero, Commander X, is a classic comic strip and movie serial hero with some high tech gizmos and time travel thrown in.”

Piscopo edited this free on-line comic book with a team of creators from the United States and England, including stories by Frank Schildiner, Vito Delsante and Michael Leal. Artwork was created by Marvel cover artist Mike Fyles, Wynn Ryder, Danny Kelly and Robert Caine Jeffcoat, and the legendary Mort Todd. Piscopo also wrote and illustrated a story and edited the collection.

In Piscopo’s story, fans meet Commander X as the Undersea Knight. In conjunction with this, Nemo Publishing has created the Undersea Knight as a limited edition Mego-style collectible action figure.

“With this collectible figure, we’ve captured the nostalgic feeling of the fun of Christmas morning when a special toy could take you into another universe,” continued Piscopo. “Seeing Commander X in his Undersea Knight uniform in the story really sparks the imagination.”

This is the sixth figure in the Commander X collectible action figure line. The other figures include: Golden Age Commander X, 1950s Commander X, Western Knight, Barbary Knight, and the Archer Knight. These eight-inch figures are created in a retro-style reminiscent of those made by the Mego Corporation in the 1970s and are designed by Piscopo and produced by Paul “Dr. Mego” Clarke. A short video about the variant collection can be viewed at this link.

All six figures are available exclusively at www.captneli.com at a special price of $15 (regularly $19.95) through December 31, 2010.

Fans first met the Sea Raider and the Sea Ghost in Volumes 1 and 2 of Capt'n Eli. The Sea Ghost now also stars in his own comic book distributed by Diamond Comics Distributors. More about this new book at www.TheSeaGhost.com.

Comic Book Collectors Blog checks out Jay Piscopo's "Sea Ghost #1"

Comic Book Collector's blog checks out Jay Piscopo's new comic book The Sea Ghost #1. Michael Hamersky's son Vinny saw the comic in Michael's review pile and here's what he has to say.

I liked everything: the story was exciting, and easy to follow, and the art was just fantastic. It would be hard to explain, but to me it seemed realistic, yet cartoony at the same time.

This had me wanting to read the "Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli", so I could learn more about Sea Ghost...

Follow this link to read the full review and get Vinny's take on this new book from Nemo Publishing.

This comic book will be available in Diamond's January Previews. More about the book and how to order at this link.
