The youth services librarians at ImaginOn Library in Charlotte, North Carolina have a very interactive, engaging blog to encourage kids (especially boys!) to read called Boys Rule, Boys Read. They held a fun March Madness Author Shootout contest and Jay Piscopo, author/illustrator of the all-ages graphic novel series The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli came out on top. Here's what one of the young voters had to say:
"Just finished The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli The mystery of me and both parts of The Mystery of the Sargasso Sea. Both books are really great. They are about Eli. For some strange reason he doesn't know where he is from. All he has is a pod. The action in both books is cool. Illustrations are interesting because the colors make your eyes pop!"
Jay heads out tomorrow for a library tour of the entire PLCMC Library System in Charlotte and looks forward to meeting fans young and old!
